BIO
Hey there! My name is Marni and I'm a pop culture and lifestyle writer, voice over artist and presenter.
I'm obsessed with all things entertainment and pop culture (especially film and TV), I also have a huge passion for health and fitness and I love to travel. When I'm not working you’ll probably find me at the cinema, or the gym, or if I’m really lucky maybe I'll be at the snow!
I got my start in the media industry as a movie reviewer on Triple H 100.1FM's Saturday Vibe and soon moved into co-hosting and producing The Sohan and Marni Show soon after. The show was pop culture-based and included weekly interviews with local musicians live on air. While working on the show, I was able to hit the red carpet at the ARIAs in 2012 and Big Day Out in 2013 and chat about music with some of Australia's most popular artists. When The Sohan and Marni Show came to an end, I moved on to co-hosting and producing The Madhouse, another pop-culture based show.
My first job in a newsroom was as a Showbiz Reporter at the Daily Mail, before working at Nova Entertainment as a Digital Content Producer across Nova FM and Smooth FM. In this role I was lucky enough to score interviews with some of world's biggest names in entertainment including Justin Timberlake, Hugh Jackman, John Cena, and Queer Eye's Fab Five. While working at Nova I was also able to work across the stations three biggest shows: Fitzy & Wippa, Smallzy’s Surgery and Kate, Tim & Marty. I also worked on a number of comedy sketches with Nova Entertainment's newest site GOAT.com.au, and they’re pretty damn hilarious if I do say so myself! If you want to watch any of the sketches or interviews, you can find them here.
I then moved into the role of Acting Editor in October 2018 before deciding to make the big (and scary) move to go freelance in February 2019. While I do still freelance for publications such as Pedestrian, Lifehacker, Gizmodo and more, I also work at Yahoo Lifestyle as an entertainment and lifestyle journalist and am also currently the host of a weekly pop culture podcast, Pop Fix, which is available on Spotify or iTunes now.
If you'd like to get in touch about working together or to find out a little bit more about me, feel free to contact me here.
